Home > housekeeper jobs

In the past I have worked as a housekeeper in hotels cleaning the hotel rooms. I worked my butt off every day and had to work a lot of weekends too. I now work as a receptionist in an office where I don’t do a whole lot other than sit at my desk all day and I don’t have to work weekends. I get paid quite a bit more in my current job though. Why does it seem that a lot of physically demanding jobs get paid less than easy desk jobs?

‘Brain work’ pays more than ‘muscle work’ because it requires some skill. Just about anyone can clean hotel rooms, it’s not hard to find unskilled labor. But being a receptionist requires some skill. Plus they’re looking for a certain type of person, because you represent the company, you’re the first person people see when they come in.

I’ve noticed all my life that the older and balder I get, the more they pay me, and the less physically demanding the work, but the more I have to think, and the harder the decisions are.

i need a jobs,
nanny, housekeeper, cleaning, kitchen helper or anything.
but i need emplyers to sponsor me.

can someone help me to find a web site or forum that need a workers and they willing to sponsor their worker?

thx a lot.
bless u all and merry x’mas

You mean sponsor you for a Work Visa?
I don’t think you’ll have much luck. It’s a lot of trouble to go through, plus a long wait. People would probably much rather hire someone local than have to wait for a Work Visa to be processed.

But,good luck though.

for a job

If the person is hardworking and has a good work ethic, then an employer does not care if they are male or female.I have worked for businesses where the cleaning staff consisted of both genders..

David Sedaris was a housekeeper. He didn’t own his own company. I own a housekeeping company & I would hire a male. It’d be easier on the eyes.

BE HONEST. Write the first gender (male or female) that comes to your mind when you read the following kinds of jobs:

Secretary
Doctor
Librarian
Teacher
Police Officer
Housekeeper
Custodian
Florist
Engineer
Judge
Pilot

Interesting

Secretary female
Doctor male
Librarian male
Teacher female
Police Officer male
Housekeeper female
Custodian male
Florist male
Engineer male
Judge male
Pilot male

Thanks for asking.

I’m 17, and I have worked at McDonald’s and a country club, but both are food related, so I’m not sure what questions to expect from a hotel?

Also, would jeans, a nice shirt, and some jewelry be fine to wear?

As you have not worked as housekeeper before, they will not ask questions about the job, as they will train you in what you will be doing.

They will just ask general questions about your previous jobs. Nothing too exciting.

They just want to get a feel fo what you are like.

Being hardworking, conscientious, and enthusiastic, are the main things you will have to put across in your answers, as these are the qualities they are looking for.

Being a C.N.A sounds best but there’s no schooling at this time. What are some other lucky options to get me cleaning and helping in a hospital?

are you in the uk. i dont think hospitals employ the cleaners, it is all done by outside private agencies.

I recently saw and ad on the newspaper about a job for a housekeeper.
I have been looking for a job for a while now and I am wondering if that is a job that would be weird for a man to have.

unconventional but not weird. just like how its considered funny in films for a guy to be a nurse but in real life theres plenty of talented male nurses

Do you like that system, or would you prefer the other and why?

Hourly , because if they do a bad job it could be disputed paying for a complete job .

Housekeeper inspector>>wht r the duties? is it a hard job?
I just got hired as a housekeeper inspector and im really nervous about it.havent been trained yet bt is it a hard job? the hiring manager told me today that its a alot of mulittasking….what ds she mean?

You have to clean up all of the potato soup that the guests spill before the new guests show up.

While doing that, you need to fluff the pillow.

No time to mourn spilled soup!!! Fluff!! FLUFF THE PILLOW!!!
